Ms. Margea Chenault

Hello, My name is Margea Chenault. I am the new Librarian in room 204. My BA is from National Louis University and my Masters in Library Information Services is from Dominican University. Here are a few things we've worked on in the Library: Black History Month In February the students in 5th through 8th grade created African American booklets that required a comparison of two African American people, an acrostic poem, an image of the person researched as well as biographical information indicating significance to society and a reference. The genre of this project was Biography for grades 5 through 8. Many students were allowed to work on power point presentations as well. Primary students were read and shown on-line stories of famous African Americans as well as given art to color, cut and paste. They were also encouraged to check out books on this topic. I also do story programming with primary students which include felt board stories and a plethera of literacy activities.

Reading Logs Students are expected to begin reading logs in the library. It is my desire that students in grades 4-8 read a minimum of 25 minutes per day of outside reading time. This accumulates to 250 minutes per quarter. Students in grades K through 3 should read 15 minutes per day of outside reading time generating 150 minutes per quarter.
